"Issues of World War III" Survey

"What can be done to prevent electrical power shortages?" The clear majority of respondents — eighty percent — voted for expanding the power supply rather than conserving usage; the rest fell in the "other" category. Here are excerpts of a couple of comments:

• "…It is a matter of supply and demand. If more of an item is demanded, it has to be supplied by producing more…"
• "[Expanding energy production] cannot be done without uprooting… environmentalists, who… work to shut down energy production…"

Factual Background:
Five years ago, the state of California faced a series of rolling blackouts and "brownouts" across large regions as the available power supply became stretched to the limit. The Enron corporation, at that time a major trader in electrical power, ended up a symbol of scandal and a target of federal prosecution as a result of those shortages.

Three years ago, a chain reaction of power failures left much of the American northeast and parts of eastern Canada entirely without electricity for many hours. The whole city of New York sat in utter darkness in the heat of August.

Earlier this month, Israel's electric company had to cut power in cities throughout the land, sometimes for hours at once, to avert a large-scale blackout by an overtaxed system.

It should seem odd that we face a looming power crisis at a time of having the most advanced technology in history, and when population growth in industrial nations has slowed to a crawl. Indeed, the cause is artificial — and quite deliberate.

For decades, environmentalists have been fulfilling the Marxist objective of undermining capitalism from behind, in a quiet way. Step by step, they've been limiting and then shutting down the sources of our power supply, knowing how critical electricity is to an industrial economy. Without power, much of the economy would simply shut down, and Communist revolution would become vastly easier to instigate.

Originally, radical environmentalists threw obstacles in the way of power plants through the Clean Air Act and its regulatory derivatives, insisting that we must have perfectly "clean" air even at the expense of losing power generation by plants that burn fossil fuels, such as oil or coal. As newer technology (not regulations) made power plant emissions more clean, environmentalists were forced to shift to a new rationale: that simple carbon dioxide, already a large component of natural air, could somehow cause a disastrous "greenhouse effect" of global warming from minute, immeasurable increases by industrial emissions. Even as scientists could find no evidence that global warming would be destructive — nor that it was taking place anyway — environmentalists kept pushing the Kyoto Protocol to shut down anything that emits carbon dioxide. And President Bush joined the extremist voices proclaiming a "global warming" crisis.

With the U.S. refusing to ratify the Kyoto Pact, Bush and his environmentalist friends turned to reducing the already minute mercury emissions from power plants, amounts too tiny to affect life but which cannot be eliminated without largely ending electricity production.

Hydropower (generation of electricity through river flows) has also been cut back drastically as environmentalists have forced the demolishing of dams, supposedly to protect snail darters, chinook salmon, and other fish thriving perfectly well amidst the long-standing dam network.

Nuclear power? It doesn't have any polluting emissions at all, but that didn't stop environmentalists. They cooked up visions of Chernobyl disasters and the "China Syndrome"; when that didn't work, they warned of doomsday from tiny amounts of radioactive waste that are buried deep under remote deserts. Anti-nuclear propaganda has helped keep America at a low 103 nuclear power plants to this day, and not a single one has been built since 1973, under the burden of a Nuclear Regulatory Commission that blocks new construction.

Other countries face the same environmental assault on their industrial capacity. In 2001, Germany passed a law forcing the phased shutdown of all 19 of its nuclear reactors, and environmentalists in Israel managed to shut down a large power plant in Tel Aviv with the help of collaborators in high places, causing the recent power outages in the newly strained system.

Marxist environmentalists, often receiving help from Soviet Russia or other Communist regimes, crank out any excuse, no matter how outlandish, to squeeze progressively the electrical power foundation of capital economies — even as Communist nations rapidly construct new power plants, whether driven by fossil fuels, hydropower, or nuclear energy, for their military needs. The goal is obvious.

Relevant Torah Principles:
1) Under the Noahide commandment of establishing justice, national security (the government's obligation to protect itself and the system) takes highest priority. When faced with a dangerous enemy mobilizing for war, any amount of pollution or environmental damage (if such existed) would be justified in preparing to win the war. The same concept exists under Jewish Law, although it has other sources. And protecting the national security includes moving against those agents who undermine it internally through political movements draped in "scientific" or "idealistic" cover.

2) Even without any threat to national security, the central mission of human beings under the Noahide Laws is to populate and develop the world (as derived from Isaiah 45:18 in rabbinical writings). Past a point, this is impossible without industry, and industrial development is impossible without electrical power, and thus a growing supply of energy is mandatory under Torah Law. The world was created in a raw, incomplete, natural state, and the job of humans is to finish the creation by refining and developing it.

Analysis:
All restrictions on energy production must be lifted, and every practical source of power must be exploited, including fossil fuels and hydropower. Nuclear power is the safest, most reliable, most abundant, and cleanest source, and therefore must be emphasized. Regulatory obstacles must be removed and the price of power production brought down drastically.

And environmentalists, who are enemies of the state working in direct collusion with the Communist enemy, must be prosecuted and shut down instead of power plants. Under Torah, there is no "freedom of speech" to destroy the economy, the national security, or the mission assigned us by G-d. If countries, such as America, protect such "freedom of speech," those freedoms must be ended and violators prosecuted like the traitorous enemies they are.

THE HALL OF SHAME…
Have Some Jewish Leaders Betrayed the Torah?

This week's example:
Rabbi Michel Guzik, Mesivta High School Orach Chaim, Brooklyn, NY

A JAHG-USA volunteer showed Rabbi Guzik our PLO-defunding Proclamation last September 18th. Since he's reviewed here in the "Hall of Shame," you already know he refused. But what was his excuse? He doesn't sign proclamations of any kind, he said.

Rabbinical authorities commonly issue or sign proclamations whenever they feel an issue needs to be straightened out publicly. But it's obvious Rabbi Guzik knew that (for that matter, we wouldn't be surprised if he's signed a proclamation or two in his lifetime!).

The point is that he's the Assistant Principal at his yeshiva, which means he works under the Principal, Rabbi Braunstein — himself a "refusenik" we profiled a few weeks ago (who refused on the same day). Either Rabbi Guzik knew what his boss's response was, or he pretty much knew what it would be. After all, with so many cowardly rabbis populating our institutions these days, it's not that hard to guess many a response in advance.

Many Jewish Leaders Are Helping the JAHG-USA Campaign

Rabbi Bension saw the PLO-defunding Proclamation last September 21st and signed immediately. He thus joins dozens of yeshiva teachers and principals, including a teacher at his own yeshiva, in endorsing the call for everyone to get involved. And as a principal, his voice particularly stands out.

Rabbi Liberow was presented the Proclamation nearly a week later, on September 27th, and likewise signed on the spot. In fact, he was one of our most enthusiastic endorsers, thanking the JAHG-USA volunteer for his good work in participating in the campaign. He runs the Chabad synagogue in the heavily Jewish Flatbush area of Brooklyn, and therefore his endorsement should receive some notice.

Moshe Rubashkin signed the Proclamation on October 9th, as soon as he read it. Though not an ordained rabbi, Rubashkin leads the official political organization for the Lubavitch community in Brooklyn, acting as its representative to the city of New York and other groups. Rubashkin's family is also well known for their leading role in the kosher meat industry in America. Moshe Rubashkin has tremendous influence inside and outside the Lubavitch community, and his endorsement carries much weight.

• (In response to our May 7th issue, where we answered the false charges of the Christian Church against King David):
"I find it interesting that in one newsletter you rebuke the New Testament as a 'man-made book' then later rely on such 'man-made' books as the Talmud and Kabbalah…" — DJ.

Our response to this letter, part 1: The Jews have steadfastly maintained, for over 33 centuries, that the teachings in the Talmud, Kabbalah, and other rabbinical sources date back directly to Moses at Mount Sinai. Roman authorities came along more than 1,600 years after Mount Sinai — after many centuries of Jews preserving and living the "oral Torah" (the Spoken Word of G-d as later written down in the Talmud, etc.) — and ever so easily brushed that entire tradition aside, announcing that they were replacing the Spoken Word with a hand-chosen set of Greek-language correspondence, by the apostle Paul and others, under the title "New Testament." The edited components of the Roman "New Testament" were less than 200 years old; the Jewish oral traditions were 1,600 years old. Yet the Church didn't even blush at declaring the ancient Jewish traditions to be "man-made" and invalid, while proclaiming the new Roman document a holy work of G-d.

Rome and its Church never bothered explaining on what basis they could negate the ancient Jewish traditions; to this day, I've never even heard of the slightest attempt at justification. But that's probably because one doesn't have to look far to discover the authenticity of G-d's Oral Torah.

For a person who knows Hebrew, as any educated, observant Jew does, the fact that the Bible is not the entire Word of G-d becomes immediately evident. Scripture cannot be understood without the Spoken Word, as seen in any Torah scroll (as opposed to printed book editions); the Hebrew text is written entirely without vowels, which are memorized as part of the oral tradition. Without knowing the correct vowels according to Jewish traditions, the meaning of many words and passages is unclear. Take the beginning of the Bible: In Genesis chapter 1, the first verse, depending on its correct vowels, could either read "In the beginning G-d created…" or "In the beginning G-d destroyed the heavens and the earth." Verse 5: "…and there was evening and there was morning, day one," or "…and there were wild beasts and there was cattle one day." The Scriptural text could be read either way, depending on the vowels.

The Christian Church accepted the Jewish interpretation of the Scriptural texts based on the vowels of the ancient Oral Torah, but didn't bother mentioning that to its Christian followers (who generally don't even know how Hebrew letters and vowels work).

Other parts of the Oral Torah slipped into Christianity without its followers knowing what happened. For example, Christian teaching (echoed in the "New Testament") refers to the Satan being in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. Now, if you turn to the beginning of Genesis and read the narrative carefully, you'll find no one mentioned except Adam, Eve, and a snake (and G-d, of course). But no Satan. However, in the works of the Midrash, the rabbis preserved the ancient oral tradition that the Satan was present, invisibly riding the snake's back and whispering into its ear. That's found nowhere in Scripture, but it is in the Oral Torah — and in Christian belief!

Scripture frequently refers to the Spoken Word. In Deut. 4:2: "You shall not add onto the Spoken Word ["davar," in Hebrew, from the root meaning "to speak"]…". Or Deut. 13:1: "The entire Spoken Word [again, "davar," in Hebrew] that I am commanding you today, you shall guard it for performing; you shall not add onto it, nor detract from it" [all translations are ours from the original]. There are many more such references.

The bottom line is that G-d's Word is one, indivisible teaching. One can't pick and choose which parts one wants and throw away the rest; that's just self-deception. Jews have preserved the entire Word, written and spoken, as one, intact message. The Romans and the Christian Church, on the other hand, publicly dispensed with the Spoken Word while quietly keeping certain parts that were absolutely necessary for their own purposes. With half of G-d's Word gone (the oral half), the Church then proceeded to tack on its carefully chosen and edited Greek letters to justify its new, rebellious doctrines. That same trick was later pulled by the Muslims with their Arabic-language Kuran, by Joseph Smith with his mystery-language Book of Mormon, and others.

It's only in the Spoken Word as found in the Talmud and other sources that one can actually understand the details and fuller meaning of G-d's Law. That's why every non-Jewish religion on earth has rejected that Oral Torah and waged war against it. False religions simply can't survive in light of G-d's complete Word. After all, virtually all knowledge of the Noahide Code, the universal covenant of Law for all gentiles, is found only in the oral traditions. And that's not knowledge that false religions want you discovering.
