"Issues of World War III" Survey

"If the Iraqi courts don't convict Saddam Hussein, or if they give him a light sentence, what should America do?" Responses were evenly split between (1) re-trying Saddam in a U.S. court, (2) supporting the Iraqi courts' decision and allowing Saddam off the hook, and (3) executing Saddam ourselves. There were only a couple of comments, however:

• "…[re-trying Saddam] would be needed, to make sure that he doesn't get freed and can take control again of Iraq."
• "…eliminate the entire Baath Party…"

Factual Background:
The real possibility of Saddam Hussein being released after light sentencing looms on the horizon. Instead of prosecuting him for treason, for ruling over the vast socialist, police-state structure that terrorized Iraq for decades or for selling out the country to his Soviet Russian masters, the Iraqi courts are severely limiting their prosecution to very specific, narrow instances of atrocities against individual towns — events so narrowly defined that it may prove impossible to establish Saddam's direct and deliberate culpability. The courts are acting as if his larger, provable crimes simply never existed, or as if they weren't crimes.

The composition of the "new" courts explains the dilemma. All of the judges (as far as we know) were trained by the institutions of Saddam's Communist regime, and they all launched their careers on the specific approval of the Baath Socialist Party and the police state agencies. In other words, all of the judges must be loyalists of the Baath Socialists (even if they aren't known to be formal members) and of Saddam. Indeed, recently one confirmed Baath Party member almost became the new head judge on Saddam's case — until an outcry of protest forced him back into the shadows. But his fellow judges are essentially cut from the same cloth.

It's no wonder the judges have been allowing Saddam to perform courtroom theatrics that wouldn't be tolerated in any other country!

Iraq first fell to Soviet-backed Communist forces in 1958. Several power struggles between different Communist factions caused the regime to fall into various hands, finally ending up under the Baath Socialist Party in the late 1960s. The Baath Party was an international, not an Iraqi, organization founded by members of the Syrian Communist Party in the 1940s. In 1972, Iraq's Baath rulers concluded a formal treaty of alliance with the Soviet Union, giving the Soviets full and absolute control over the Iraqi military, intelligence services, and secret police — in other words, the entire system. From that point forward, Iraqi rulers served as nothing more than figureheads, behind whom thousands of Soviet Russian "advisors" and commanders directly governed Iraq. Soviet weaponry flowed in enormous quantities into Iraqi arsenals, building it into one of the world's most heavily armed nations. By 1979, Saddam had climbed his way to the top of the Baath Party, and thus became the puppet "ruler" of Iraq whose job it was to obey the Soviets unswervingly.

Inside Iraq, the Soviets and their Baath Party servants built a classic Communist system. Every function of society was politicized and revolutionized to serve the purposes of international Communism. The economy was destroyed through socialism; religion was simultaneously suppressed and co-opted by Baath agents; a vast network of secret police agents and their informants penetrated every single workplace, residential neighborhood, and organization; children were indoctrinated in atheist, Marxist revolution in the Party-controlled schools, under Party-selected teachers; and no one was able to achieve any significant position in society without either joining the Baath Party or collaborating with it secretly.

The U.S. invasion not only didn't dismantle that system, it specifically protected it. The Baath Party had at least one million members permeated throughout society, in addition to untold numbers of secret informants and undercover agents. The key to rooting out the Communist infestation lay in the records kept in government buildings, where files detailed the identities of all the regime's people. But U.S. troops were held back after winning their victory, allowing the Baathists to loot government facilities and clear the records out.

Still, in many cases we do know who the Baath Party members were. In fact, it turns out that, for the most part, they're the ones running the terror network now murdering Iraqis and Americans. They're also in charge of the "new" courts, the "new" schools, the "new" police and army, and every other major institution of government and society. The still all-pervasive Baathist network collaborates closely with the terrorists, sabotaging the fight against the revolution and terrorizing the innocent civilians. So the "new" system is more or less a replica of the old one.

With the help of Iraqis who can give us tremendous information, it would still be possible to identify many, if not most, of the Baathists and their undercover agents. But Iraqis increasingly fear helping the Americans, since they can see plainly America has no intention of winning the Iraq war — and the Baath underground ruthlessly tortures and murders any civilian caught helping against the Communists.

Until America roots out and annihilates the Baathist/Communist underground, there's no possibility of winning the war. Furthermore, there is a good chance the Baathists are planning a prison break to release Saddam as a symbolic victory over America; they're just waiting for the right moment (already they've been conducting other prison breaks to release terrorists, and in many cases they themselves run the prisons anyway). And they're definitely planning a resurrection of the Baathist regime in full force, once they can regain unchallenged, open control over most of society.

Relevant Torah Principles:
1) One of the Torah's 613 commandments requires Jews to arouse hatred for the evil nation of Amalek, and to annihilate its members — men, women, children, even infants, as well as their possessions (animals, gold and silver, etc.). The deep-seated evil of Amalek, which is Satanic in nature and seeks to "overthrow" G-d (G-d forbid!), is both unique among all types of evil in the world and too strong to be phased out peacefully. Thus Jews are commanded, under the proper circumstances, to "erase the memory of Amalek" from the world.

2) The last visible, above-ground existence of Amalek ceased approximately 24 centuries ago. From that point onward, the rabbinical sages debated whether Amalek had stopped existing, or whether its network had simply gone underground to organize revolution from in hiding. Though today many rabbis ignorantly presume Amalek really did cease to exist, it is clear from Torah sources that that can't possibly be the case. After several centuries, it became clear to the sages that Amalek was still functioning in the shadows, infiltrated among other nations and peoples while continuing to operate as a single, conspiratorial entity (the evidence for this is much too big a subject for this issue of our newsletter).

3) The Torah gives various signs by which to identify the hidden hand of Amalek. Among those are (a) an irrational, provocative anti-Semitism, (b) a hatred of religion in general, and G-d in particular, often combined with an adoration or worship of evil (or of the Satan literally), and (c) a willful determination to overthrow ordered government and destroy society through nihilist, anarchist revolution. Based on these and other indicators, there is no question that modern Communism, which originated in the dark shadows of an underground, occult network in Europe, is the manifestation of secret Amaleki forces. Consequently, the commandment to annihilate Amalek applies to their agents, such as Communists.

4) While the Jewish commandment to initiate a war of extermination against Amalek probably doesn't apply to gentiles, the Noahide commandment of upholding justice and ordered society does require gentile nations to do what is necessary to win wars when threatened by an enemy. International Communism is now conducting an ongoing offensive against all nations in the world, and wherever it wins a victory (such as in Iraq), all nations are in greater danger. Thus gentiles, who are now under attack, are commanded to defeat the Communist enemy. Since Communism is nothing more than an arm of Amalek, the only way to win is to use the Torah-commanded methods — meaning total, absolute extermination of every single Communist and every knowing collaborator with Communism or its front movements. Since nothing less would bring victory, this is now a binding imperative on gentiles as well as Jews.

Analysis:
Everywhere in the world that people have come face-to-face with Communism, they have quickly learned that one cannot win without killing every single Communist. The Russian Christian aristocracy was forced to set aside its normal rules of warfare in fighting the Red Army, which savagely tortured, raped, and murdered any prisoners of war, and thus the Russian White Army instituted the unprecedented policy of executing every prisoner of war captured from the Red Army. Vietnamese anti-Communists discovered the same principle, and likewise began executing Communist prisoners of war. And so did many other peoples who wished to survive.

Iraqi civilians had the same instinct. It was not uncommon to hear comments from Iraqis wanting the Americans to kill every single Baathist and secret police agent, and to conclude that America would lose if it didn't do so.

These are healthy survival instincts as well as a Torah mandate. So not only must America dissolve the current Iraqi government and execute Saddam Hussein and his fellow defendants promptly (without trial), it must uncover the entire underground Baathist/Communist network and systematically wipe them out. The work isn't done until between one and two million Iraqis — the Baathists, the Communists, the secret police agents, etc. — are dead.

Then a permanent peace will come to Iraq, which can then finally rebuild as a modern, industrial nation.

THE HALL OF SHAME…
Have Some Chabad Shluchim Betrayed Their Rebbe?

This week's example:
Rabbi Chaim Miller, author/ translator/ lecturer, Brooklyn, NY

Rabbi Miller was shown our PLO-defunding Proclamation last August 16th. We naively expected him to be one of our more enthusiastic endorsers, but he didn't even bother trying to evade anything or offer excuses. He simply brushed it aside, saying he doesn't "sign things like that" — without explaining what "things like that" refers to. Saving lives? "Things" involving Torah and mitzvos (G-d's commandments)? Jewish "things"?

Rabbi Miller has been promoted widely in Lubavitch circles and publications, largely for his translations of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's sichos (speeches) or other works of Hasidus (Jewish mystical philosophy). We can only imagine that he somehow came under the delusion that endorsing PLO defunding wasn't a popular or socially acceptable thing to do — thus "things like that." Get a spine, Rabbi Miller!

Some Chabad Shluchim Are Helping the JAHG-USA Campaign

Rabbi Goodfriend was shown the PLO-defunding Proclamation last July 21st and signed unhesitatingly. I consider him not only a close associate, but a friend; he and I previously worked together on various projects for teaching the Seven Noahide Laws and their corollaries, and he helped support my work in various ways when I was in New York several years ago. Having been at least peripherally involved with the PLO-defunding campaign in its earlier days, he knows well its importance. So his endorsement is no passing matter. He is currently working to establish a new Chabad House and community in South Carolina.

Rabbi Springer saw the Proclamation on July 22nd and also signed after reviewing it. He teaches rabbinical students at the advanced Lubavitch yeshiva, based in the Lubavitch world headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn. The graduates of that yeshiva typically go on to found Chabad Houses, so Rabbi Springer's endorsement should carry weight with numerous Chabad rabbis around the world.

Rabbi Cohen saw and endorsed the PLO-defunding Proclamation on July 25th and also signed immediately. He runs a Jewish outreach organization for North Carolina, carrying out work similar to that of thousands of Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries around the world.

NOTE: We continue our publication of, and responses to, letters sent in during the last several weeks.

• (In response to our recent newsletter issue on art as a battleground between Torah and its enemies):

"Being a double major with Art Ed/Theater minor… I find that your article is most interesting. I was not aware of all your research but it makes sense. I had feared majoring in art [previously]… due to the immorality.…" — JA.

• (In further response to that same article on art, specifically to where we wrote, "Degrading or subversive art… must be completely censored — and the subversive artists executed before they can bring down the system into Communist anarchy and the Red Terror"):

"I'm afraid I can't support your vision in this… The only truly 'benevolent dictatorship' would be rule by G-d Himself — not a G-d-appointed man, who would be subject to sin, corruption and failure. You need not look any further than King David to see a 'man after G-d's own heart' who was nevertheless someone incapable of effectively leading his people. He was guilty of murder and adultery among other sins, and was a terrible parent, as evidenced by the behavior of his children (murderers, rapists, philanderers, etc.). And this was the best that could be found in ancient Israel.…" — DJ.

Our response: To address just one issue this letter raises, we should point out that the Christian Church has deceived its followers over the ages through various propaganda tricks. One of those has been an ongoing smear campaign against righteous Jewish leaders, in an attempt to discredit both the Jewish people and G-d's Law for the purpose of legitimizing Christian "authority" in religious matters. Basically, the Roman-backed Church substitutes the individual person of Jesus for the Jewish people as a whole, attempting to transfer the Jewish role of bearing G-d's message to the world away from Jews to Jesus — and by extension, the Christian Church and its members. It's a sleight-of-hand method that tries to legitimize the man-made "New Testament" in place of G-d's holy Word as found in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Talmud, the Kabbalah, and other holy Jewish writings.

The Church attempts to discredit Jews and the true Word of G-d by searching for any perceived flaw or failing on the part of the greatest, most righteous leaders, including Jacob, Moses, King David, King Solomon, and others.

In the case of King David, the Christian myth claims, as stated above in the letter, that he committed murder and adultery, thus rendering him not only not particularly righteous, but downright wicked to the greatest extent imagineable (G-d forbid!). Yet even the written Bible says an entirely different story:

• After King David's passing (that is, after his entire life was completed and ready for comment), the Bible repeatedly calls him "Your [G-d's] servant" ("avdecha David", in Hebrew; I Kings 8:24-26, Psalms 86:2,4,16; II Chron. 6:15-17,42). The connotation of the Hebrew word for "servant" means one who is totally and completely dedicated to his service. A murderer and adulterer can never be considered such a "servant," even after repenting, for only death can atone for such sins. This means the Bible is clearly implying King David never committed such crimes as the Church accuses him of.
• Again King David is called "His servant" in the Psalms ("David avdo", in Hebrew; Ps. 78:70).
• Then G-d, in His own Voice, calls David "My servant" ("David avdi", in Hebrew; Ps. 89:4,21).
• Wicked people are rejected and cut off from G-d, while He makes His covenants and His promises only to those who are especially righteous. All throughout the Bible are references to the eternal covenant G-d established with King David and his seed, through whom the Messianic King will arise to annihilate Amalek and permanently rebuild the Jerusalem Temple with animal sacrifices. This covenant reflects King David's status as an extraordinarily righteous man, not a person who committed vile crimes (who would never be eligible for such a covenant).
