"What should be done about global warming?" More than three-quarters of respondents voted to ignore the warnings of global warming and to keep building the industrial economy; the balance opted for an undecided, wait-and-see position. Most respondents didn't add any comments; here are a couple:

Factual Background:
For decades, environmentalists have complained that human activities — industrial production, automobiles, etc. — produce too much atmospheric pollution. Carbon dioxide, being possibly the largest single "pollutant" from human sources, became a favorate target.

The first problem with attacking carbon dioxide is that it isn't toxic. It's in the air we breathe, and it doesn't cause health problems. And it's produced by natural sources (animals, decaying organic matter, natural forest fires, volcanoes, etc.) far more than by human ones. That made it hard for environmentalists to sell people on the notion that we must dismantle industry in order to cut back carbon dioxide emissions, so they changed tactics.

By the 1980s, environmentalist radicals (including many leftists and Marxists working as "scientific" researchers) were claiming that if carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere were to increase significantly, it would create a "greenhouse effect" in which the air would trap more heat on earth and… well, that would be sheer chaos, they say. Vegetation and animals would die off, polar ice caps would melt and the rising oceans would swallow the land, humans would die of famine and disease, and the world would be utterly destroyed. It was like something from a "Twilight Zone" episode (or a Godzilla movie).

More legitimate scientists have pointed out that (1) the earth has seen large, natural variations in overall temperature over the course of centuries, which drastically altered world climates without disaster (the globe has been many degrees warmer in the past), and (2) even if the earth would warm up, that might present benefits rather than destruction.

But all this may be moot, since there's actually no evidence of a "global warming" anyway. Even the leftist radicals who dominate the National Academy of Sciences and who recently declared a "global warming" crisis couldn't find anything more than, at most, a one degree increase in temperature over the last century — one of the slowest temperature changes in world history. And even that is rubbish. The data behind that conclusion was a series of temperature measurements biased by something called the "urban heat island" effect, in which cities show higher temperatures than the surrounding countrysides (because buildings, pavement, and machinery tend to produce or trap more heat); when adjusting for the over-reading of temperatures in cities, one finds no global increase in temperature at all. This was the primary reason so many scientists have opposed the "global warming" hype.

But then, there's no reason for carbon dioxide to cause "global warming" in the first place. Even if humans could produce enough carbon dioxide to change atmospheric levels (which we don't), that extra carbon dioxide would simply be absorbed by nature. It would fuel a dramatic growth in forests and lush vegetation (which consume carbon dioxide), and would lead to thriving ecosystems while the atmospheric levels would keep returning to normal. So nature wouldn't even allow the possibility of "global warming."

The fact is, scientists still don't understand the processes underlying global temperature shifts upward and downward of several degrees over the course of centuries. Whatever the complex causes, carbon dioxide probably doesn't play a significant role.

Yet environmentalists still try to insist they're seeing rising temperatures that are melting ice in Canada and Greenland, while blatantly ignoring the growing freeze in Antartica, where rising snow levels are burying research stations and their equipment. What's the environmental agenda behind twisting science and frightening the public?

The environmentalist movement was largely created by grants and funding from Fabian Socialists running large tax-exempt foundations such as the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation and its affiliates, the Carnegie Endowment, and so forth. A congressional investigation in the early 1950s discovered that the directors of these foundations are using their funds to support Marxist revolution and propaganda of various types, with the ultimate goal of transforming the United States into a Soviet-style Communist nation. And it was funding from such institutions that created virtually the entire interlocking network of environmentalist groups.

Some of those groups now have open ties to the Communist Bloc, such as Greenpeace, which is supported by Soviet intelligence, is provided Soviet money, and works with Soviet agents in formulating its propaganda (see an article on the subject on our sister site, ATTAC Report, entitled "Greenpeace Wages Redwar"). Greenpeace is interconnected with both the more "moderate" environmentalist groups, such as the Sierra Club, and with openly Marxist, terrorist groups such as Earth First! and the Earth Liberation Front. And many other eco-groups have similar Marxist ties.

The environmentalists are simply using pseudo-science to disguise their Communist goal: to dismantle industrial society step by step, until the increasingly disfunctional economy becomes an easy target for revolution and Socialist destruction.

Relevant Torah Principles:
1) One of the mandates of Jewish Law is to develop the land of Israel, especially in building cities and urban areas. It is forbidden under Jewish Law to dismantle urban development in favor of restoring farmland or wild nature. In general, this development process is part of the Jewish work of "Tikkun HaOlam" ("repairing the world"), which involves correcting the imperfection of nature through human development.

2) Under the Noahide Laws, this isn't just one of the mandates; it's the entire mandate. The core purpose of gentiles in G-d's plan is to develop the world physically by filling it with more population, by transforming the land through construction and development, and by exploiting and harnessing natural resources. The industrial revolution represents a further stage in the human obligation under G-d's Law to develop the world, and is an imminent preparation for the Messianic Era that will be fueled by capital-development ("capitalist") economies that will produce endlessly abundant wealth.

3) This mandate of development isn't a "right"; it's an obligation, a duty under G-d's Law. Consequently, the underlying principles of the Noahide Laws empower gentile governments to enforce this obligation, if necessary. If there are people opting for a return to nature in their own lives, the government may pass laws to discourage this and put pressure on those people to repent and return to their duty of building civilization. If an entire environmentalist movement arises, there is no question the government is positively obligated to outlaw the movement and all of its anti-social activities, with severe penalties if needed, in order to suppress it as a subversive danger to society.

4) In wartime, any movement that seeks to damage the economy and undermine the society isn't just rebelling against the mandate for growth; it's violating the Noahide commandment of upholding justice. It threatens the very stability of the nation itself and undermines the war effort, and thus amounts to treason, which brings death penalty.

Analysis:
We are today at war with international Communism, which already rules over one-third of the world and is bringing the rest of the nations to the brink of chaos and collapse. Their slow attack of internal subversion is weakening all nations in preparation for the more overt attack coming soon.

Environmentalism constitutes one arm of Communist subversion of non-Communist societies (Communist regimes themselves completely ignore environmental issues in their aggressive building of war machines). Thus the environmentalist movement, from the most "respectable" conservationist groups to the most violent eco-radicals, are a treasonous fifth column that threatens our national security and endangers our lives.

Not only must we dismantle existing environmental regulations (especially those meant to reduce carbon dioxide emissions), but the government must take aggressive legal action to suppress the environmentalist movement and its sponsors and affiliates. Communist and Fabian Socialist agents must be rooted out through comprehensive investigations and executed as traitors.

Those subversives will ultimately destroy themselves and kill one another at the end of the third War of Gog and Magog (as foretold in prophecy). But if we fail to act ourselves, our nations will go through a period of terrible crises and economic disasters before it's all over.

The U.S. provides hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to Congo each year, which is now having its first elections in many years. Should we maintain the foreign aid to Congo?

(1) Yes, Congo needs its new democracy.
(2) The aid is being wasted, and should be cut back.
(3) No, the aid is producing a humanitarian disaster, and we need to take other action.

This week:
Ties between the Moscow Summit and the "Sanhedrin"

The fact that Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, former head of the phony "Sanhedrin," appeared and spoke before the Moscow "World Summit of Religious Leaders" hints strongly at the real purpose of the Moscow-controlled "Sanhedrin": to clear the way for the planned fusion of all religions under an umbrella organization controlled by Soviet Russia (and ultimately for an actual merger of all religions into a "New World Order" pseudo-religion).

Thus it's not suprising that the new head of the "Sanhedrin," Yoel Schwartz (whom Steinsaltz stepped out of the way to promote) made statements this last January hauntingly similar to those of Soviet dictator Vladimir Putin at the Moscow religious summit in July, six months later. At the founding of the "Sanhedrin's" bogus "Noahide Council," Schwartz called for "world peace" in the context of promoting the United Nations as the instrument for achieving that "peace."

The United Nations, as amply documented in many publications, was founded by Communist agents from the Soviet Union and in the United States, has been tightly controlled by the Communists ever since, and has been aggressively promoted by Communists everywhere as their front under which the U.S. and other western nations would disarm, transferring both our nuclear and conventional forces to U.N. control under the command of a Soviet general (occupying the post of U.N. Under-Secretary General for Political and Security Council Affairs). Thus our own military forces would be used against us as part of the Soviet Red Army's attack. That's the kind of "world peace" advocated by Adin Steinsaltz, Yoel Schwartz, and their comrades in Soviet Russia.

More nefariously still, Schwartz in that same speech called for the U.N. to be the supervisor of adopting common "principles of faith" by all religions — i.e., interfaith merger of religions (which Schwartz disingenuously refers to as the "Noahide Laws," but which is the exact opposite of their true meaning). The U.N. has certainly promoted ecumenical, interfaith religion-mashing for decades, with the aim of creating a one-world, Marxist pseudo-religion. That's identical to the goal promoted by the recent Moscow Summit and its KGB/FSB organizers, as well as by former "Sanhedrin" leader Steinsaltz and by Israel's Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger.

And by the Communist-front Root & Branch Association (R & B), with which Schwartz has long been closely affiliated and with which Steinsaltz also has links. R & B has long promoted the United Nations (having been linked with at least one pro-U.N. organization in New York), and in recent times has promoted a concept it refers to as the "Noahide Nations" that is billed as the "Noahide" equivalent of the U.N. as an international forum for all "Noahides."

Furthermore, Schwartz in his speech openly implied that the cause of warfare and terrorism today is not international Communism, but rather religious extremism. That was exactly Putin's message last month, as well as the official message of the Moscow Summit's participants in general and of Metzger and Steinsaltz in particular. From this we can readily see the true intent of all this interfaith activity: to crush and erase all religious resistance to Marxist revolution.

R & B has official ties to top leaders of the Communist Bloc. Steinsaltz, Schwartz, and Metzger likewise all have strong associations or connections with Communist leaders and intelligence agencies. So there's no surprise that all these subversives work together with Vladimir Putin and his KGB fronts in promoting interfaith meetings, which is a direct violation of the fundamental rules of Jewish Law. And it sheds new light on the activities of the bogus "Sanhedrin," which is refusing to fight Communism (such as the PLO) but which aggressively moves to place R & B agents in charge of Noahides everywhere even while the "Sanhedrin's" leaders pave the way for a new, Moscow-controlled, fake "religion."

When the true Sanhedrin emerges in the near future, it will fulfill all of its Torah duties — including issuing death sentences for anyone involved in the Moscow-controlled "Sanhedrin" of today. Steinsaltz, Schwartz, and others won't just face excommunication; the true Sanhedrin will execute them as traitors, as mandated under Torah Law.

This week's example:
Rabbi David Hollander, Hebrew Alliance of Brighton, Brooklyn, NY

This must be one of the most disappointing refusals we've come across. Rabbi Hollander was approached by a JAHG-USA volunteer last October 16th with a copy of the PLO-defunding Proclamation, which he read and then nervously stalled for time. But when our volunteer returned four days later to get the rabbi's final decision, Rabbi Hollander waffled, nervously evaded, tried to hide behind other rabbis, and finally refused to sign when put on the spot to make some kind of decision.

In fact, Rabbi Hollander wasn't against the Proclamation at all. He was willing to endorse it, but only indirectly — by having Rabbi Herbert Bomzer, the president of the leading rabbinical council (Vaad HaRabonim) of the Flatbush area, endorse on behalf of the rest of the council (of which Hollander is a member). In other words, Rabbi Hollander was willing to be included in a general endorsement without his specific signature. When informed that Rabbi Bomzer had, in fact, already endorsed (as did most directors of the council during October), Rabbi Hollander wanted to hide behind that. But we pointed out that, like all rabbinical proclamations, it is important for every single rabbi to sign independently and stand up for what is right. That made Rabbi Hollander entirely too nervous, and he complained about the pressure we were subjecting him to, before finally refusing in anxiety.

Rabbi Hollander was the courageous rabbi who, in 1997, issued a public declaration reiterating the longstanding ruling of Jewish Law that the "Reform" and "Conservative" movements are not part of Judaism in any way, but rather constitute alien religions that have fooled and manipulated millions of non-observant Jews. "Orthodox" Judaism is the only Judaism; it is the unchanged tradition since Moses at Mount Sinai. The "Reform" and "Conservative" movements did not come into existence until the 1800s, when they were founded by Marxist agents affiliated with the Communist League. The "Reform" and "Conservative" sects do not proclaim any belief in G-d, the Torah, Jewish Law, prophecy, or any other authentic Jewish tradition (teaching instead a version of Marxist "Liberation Theology"), and their so-called "rabbis" are nothing more than charlatans, the equivalent of Buddhist or Christian priests with no authority in Judaism at all. Among other things, that means that weddings, divorces, and conversions performed by "Reform" or "Conservative" clerics are invalid; gentiles who "convert" to Judaism under "Reform" or "Conservative" authority remain entirely gentile.

Naturally, shrieking and anger came from the phony "Reform" and "Conservative" leaders against Rabbi Hollander's restatement of the traditional Jewish view. But shockingly, even more venom and hatred was spewed by other orthodox rabbis — with many Chabad-Lubavitch "Hasidic" rabbis leading the charge! In direct violation of Jewish Law and orthodox practice, these orthodox rabbis brazenly condemned Rabbi Hollander's brave, accurate declaration. Ironically, many Chabad rabbis accused Rabbi Hollander's statement of being against the principles of the Chabad-Lubavitch Rebbe (Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson), yet it turned out that it was the Lubavitcher Rebbe who had specifically asked Rabbi Hollander, a few years earlier, to make the public statement! The Lubavitcher Rebbe had become frustrated by his own representatives, the Chabad rabbis, who refused en masse to condemn "Reform" and "Conservative" publicly, and so he finally turned to a non-Hasidic leader (Rabbi Hollander) to make the declaration instead.

That was one of the more shameful episodes in Chabad history, and unfortunately, Chabad rabbis still hold to their rebellious position, largely because they are frightened of alienating "Reform" and "Conservative" Jews who constitute the largest donors to Chabad Houses.

We had hoped that Rabbi Hollander's courage would have continued to the present, and we fully expected him to sign the PLO-defunding Proclamation (which he certainly agreed with, by his own admission). But unfortunately, it seems that the whole episode of being savagely attacked by his fellow orthodox rabbis has given Rabbi Hollander the "once bitten, twice shy" syndrome; he's now totally afraid of entering any other possible controversy, and remains quietly in the background avoiding the limelight.

The blame for Rabbi Hollander's nervous refusal lies largely on the shoulders of the corrupt orthodox (especially Chabad) rabbis who shamelessly attacked Rabbi Hollander a decade ago.

Terrorism Update:

The Bush Administration is still funding the escalating PLO/Hezbollah war against Israelis, Turks, Arabs, and Americans through direct aid to PLO organizations, aid to Communist Lebanon and Communist Egypt, funding of the United Nations, and foreign aid to certain non-Communist Arab governments — all of whom are aiding Hezbollah. So this is what your tax dollars are accomplishing:

Summary of terror attacks, Wednesday (July 26) through Tuesday (August 1): PLO/Hezbollah forces in Lebanon fired at least 574 Soviet Russian Katyusha missiles and apparently 5 North Korean-designed Fajr missiles into Israel, injuring dozens of civilians and damaging or destroying numerous homes, businesses, factories, a hospital & a medical facility, and vehicles in strikes directed at residential and commercial areas of cities. Arab towns were once again also targeted, killing at least one Arab child and wounding others. PLO/Hezbollah also indiscriminately fired numerous mortar shells across the border.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah's PLO masters and its close allies, Islamic Jihad and Hamas, were conducting terrorism in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and in the heart of the rest of Israel. At least 31 Kassam missiles were fired from the Gaza, with Islamic Jihad & Hamas taking credit for some (including 1 that exploded near a kindergarten & injured 2 young boys). The Al-Aqsa Brigades of the PLO's main Fatah group kidnapped an elderly man & murdered him, leaving his burnt body in an abandoned car. At least two planned suicide bombings were averted, but PLO terrorists & their affiliates conducted the usual wave of bombings, shootings, stone-throwings, etc.

PLO/Hezbollah forces were caught in numerous acts of disinformation, creating the false or exaggerated appearance of "civilian casualties" in Lebanon. Hezbollah drove ambulances in front of news photographers in response to nonexistent calls, while their comrades held Arab hostages and used them as human shields to stand in the way of Israeli return fire. Hezbollah units also stored their weapons and missile launchers in homes and civilian areas — and near United Nations forces, who didn't try to stop the terrorists — from which they launched many attacks.

This week's casualty count in Israel (not counting dead & injured terrorists):

Successful: 12 soldiers killed, at least 75 injured; 1 civilian kidnapped & murdered; 83 civilians injured; 2 police injured; many buildings, including homes, businesses, factories, a hospital, & many cars, damaged or destroyed; numerous forest fires from missile explosions
Prevented: 1 or more Kassam rockets; 2 suicide bombings; 1 bombing; 1 knifing; 1 unspecified attack
Attempted but failed to hit targets: many of the missiles; 2 bombings; various incidents of gunfire; 1 rock- & bottle-throwing attack; various rock-throwing attacks at vehicles driving by

The Bush Administration, as usual, worked overtime this last week to save Hezbollah by imposing a ceasefire on Israel before any real damage could be done to the Communists. Leading the charge was Condoleezza Rice, Bush's Secretary of State and a member of the Fabian Socialist, Communist-allied Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

President Bush also continues working to fund the PLO by any means possible. The Communist government of Lebanon was caught repeatedly fighting alongside PLO/Hezbollah and assisting them, yet Bush announced he will increase aid to the Marxist regime in Beirut. The PLO was also caught red-handed transferring money to Hamas, yet Bush continues to send more American dollars straight to the PLO and its Soviet-trained boss, Mahmoud Abbas.

Many Jewish Leaders Are Helping the JAHG-USA Campaign

Rabbi Abraham Kelman, Vaad HaRabonim of Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY;

Rabbi Kelman joined the growing chorus of rabbis from the leading rabbinical council of Flatbush in endorsing JAHG-USA's PLO-defunding campaign, and on November 19th he signed the Proclamation as soon as he saw it. A non-Hasidic orthodox rabbi of prestigious stature, he is the founder and Dean of the Prospect Park Yeshiva (Torah seminary), and thus a Torah scholar in his own right.

Rabbi Halpern, another member of the Vaad, picked up a copy of the Proclamation at the Vaad's meeting at the end of last October. After reading it, he signed it and mailed it in on November 16th. He is also the official rabbi of the (non-Hasidic) Flatbush Park Jewish Center.

Rabbi Kalimi arrived in Brooklyn to attend the annual convention of Chabad representatives, an affair that draws thousands of rabbis from around the world, in late November. On the 23rd, right before the convention began, the Proclamation was presented to the rabbi and he became one of the first of over 100 Chabad rabbis to sign it during those few days. He runs a Chabad House in Jerusalem, and understands well the importance of cutting off funding to the PLO terrorists.

• (In response to the "Terror Network" section on ATTAC Report, where we list the Lavalas of Haiti as part of the Soviet-controlled web of terrorist groups):
"You claim that Lavalas is part of the terror network. However, it seems as though the [New World Order] crowd, the people that control international terrorism, overthrew the democratically elected Lavalas government. The [United Nations] then took over the country.…" — NB.

Our response: Jean-Bertrand Aristide was an overt Marxist and a priest of "Liberation Theology" so openly in favor of violent Communist revolution that he was forced out of the Catholic priesthood. He was a front for the United Party of Haitian Communists (PUCH), an organization under Soviet Russian and Cuban control, and Aristide's top people were all members or affiliates of the Communists in Haiti. His terror organization, the Lavalas (meaning "avalanche" in Creole) was supported by Communist Cuba and maintained links with various Marxist terrorist groups worldwide. And the Lavalas, under Aristide's bloodthirsty leadership, conducted terror attacks and brutal murders against Haitians using techniques learned from the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa (itself under direct control of the South African Communist Party/SACP).

Aristide was never democratically elected. His armed thugs and Cuban-trained terrorists stole the elections through massive cheating, and patriotic Haitians could see that first-hand. So they pulled together and threw the dictator Aristide out of power in the early 1990s. In 1994, President Bill Clinton, a member of the Fabian Socialist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), sent in U.S. Marines to overthrow the legitimate government of Haiti and reinstall Aristide and his goons.

During his dictatorship through the rest of the 1990s, Aristide managed to loot and destroy the Haitian economy, imposing Soviet-style socialism and murdering many innocent Haitians. But with opposition growing from home while Haitian patriots prepared to return from exile and overthrow Aristide, he and his fellow Communists decided to pull an old Leninist trick in trying to flush out their enemies. They organized a phony "opposition" under the control of "former" Lavalas and Communists, and then orchestrated a temporary "overthrow" to bring his opponents out of hiding — with the intent of killing them, of course.

Apparently Aristide and comrades misjudged the degree of opposition and hatred they faced, and on short order, Haitians were ganging up to kill Aristide and his fellow Communists. That's when the U.S. State Department stepped in and rescued Aristide, pulling him out of harm's way. Then United Nations "peacekeepers" (including Red Chinese troops) were brought in to manage the situation and bring the Communists back into power. They've largely succeeded; the "new" government is composed almost entirely of "former" Aristide supporters. And they're certainly planning to bring back Aristide as soon as they think it's safe.
