In answer to last week's question, "What should US policy be toward homosexuality?", every single answer called for banning homsexuality rather than reducing discrimination. There were, however, only a couple of relevant comments amongst those voting:

• "I vote for banning all homosexuality and gay rights organizing. This is politically organized to promote immorality and corruption...."
• "...we must eliminate the government sanction of it."

Factual Background:
Periodically researchers, whether in the social or the biological sciences, re-discover that the greatest identifiable factor in turning people toward homosexual "lifestyles" is recruitment. That is, older homosexuals find, seduce, and recruit younger people into a trap that is difficult to escape. The implication, of course, is that by breaking the vicious cycle of recruitment, homosexuality itself could be driven to extinction.

The alternative, of tolerating the "lifestyle," is unthinkable. Every single neutral scientific study continues to confirm that homosexuals are among the most miserable inhabitants of the planet. Their practices drive them into the statistically highest rates of depression, alcoholism, heavy abuse of a stunning spectrum of hard drugs, and suicide. The more their way of life is tolerated, the more indulgent they become — and their depression and chemical dependencies spiral out of control. Homosexual men, in particular, are by far the heaviest users of hard drugs in the population, and their average life expectancy is only about 40 years — in contrast to nearly 80 years for men in general. Female homosexuals have a much lower rate of drug abuse than the men, but it is still significantly worse than for women in general.

The horrifying capacity of homosexuality for social destruction has attracted the support of revolutionary and subversive forces, who have helped organize a political "gay rights" movement and have mobilized political backing for expanded homosexual influence in society. At least some overt Communist involvement can be documented right back to the earliest days of the "gay rights" movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s, both from the mainline Communist Party and from Trotskyite factions. Leftist influences in the government helped arrange massive funding for homosexual groups beginning in the early 1980s, packaged under the label of the "War on AIDS"; today, millions of dollars flow from taxpayer-supported research agencies of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as from major pharmaceutical companies having close ties to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This money has allowed the otherwise tiny movement to wield enormous political muscle, and has contributed to the changes in federal and state laws (and court decisions) that have fully legalized homosexuality, blocked discrimination against it, protected its public events, promoted it in schools and the entertainment media, and recently sanctioned homosexual "marriage" in certain parts of the country.

This coordinated influence, largely organized by leftist non-homosexuals, has extended in recent years directly and openly into the White House. Former President Clinton widely opened the door for homosexuals to join the military, giving them greater opportunities for recruiting other men into the "lifestyle." Current President Bush's nominee for the Supreme Court, John Roberts, turns out to have provided legal help — for free — to "gay rights" activists in fighting discrimination against homosexuals; Roberts' help turned out to be crucial in forcing Colorado to protect homosexuals from discrimination, and George Bush has now nominated Roberts for no less than the position of Chief Justice!

Relevant Torah Principles:
1) The Noahide Laws, of course, explicitly forbid homosexual relations along with adultery, incest, and bestiality; the commandment provides for death penalty for indidividuals caught performing such acts. However, only male homosexuality is directly forbidden; female homosexuality is not considered actual intercourse.

2) Under the commandment of justice, however, the Noahide Laws do provide for further restrictions as necessary, depending on circumstances.

3) The Lubavitcher Rebbe has repeatedly explained that the Noahide Laws also include implicit principles that impose other prohibitions and requirements. The need for modesty is certainly a good example, and it inherently blocks such things as female homosexuality and various practices that lead to homosexual relations.

4) The Noahide commandment of justice includes the requirement that the actions of the government must follow the laws of the land; in the United States, the supreme law is the Constitution. Any pro-homosexual measures that conflict with the US Constitution must be nullified to fulfill the Noahide requirements of justice, and further the Constitution must be invoked wherever possible to reverse pro-"gay rights" influence.

Analysis:
Nowhere does the US Constitution override state laws banning homosexuality, nor does it protect homosexuals from discrimination (nor their "free speech" to advocate "gay rights"), nor does it allow federal monies to be given to "gay rights" organizations. Thus Congress can and must repeal all these measures. To the extent that the courts (including the Supreme Court) try to interfere with Congressional decisions on the matter, the Constitution gives Congress the power to impeach and remove any federal judges for violating the Constitution and the law.

It hardly needs to be said that Bush's nominee for Chief Justice, John Roberts, must not be confirmed by the Senate. But if he is confirmed, he, too, can be impeached and removed the moment he fails to support Congressional measures withdrawing all support from the homosexual movement.

Congress and/or state legislatures must further renew the ban on homosexuality that existed only a few decades ago, and must now strengthen them with a variety of bans on homosexual advocacy and publishing, "gay" bars and nightclubs, and other aspects of the general "lifestyle." The moral and religious content of school education must be restored, with a clear teaching of G-d's commandments. And all Marxist or leftist organizations and individuals supporting or organizing "gay rights" must be investigated and prosecuted, under new laws if necessary.

A unified front by all of society against such a destructive "lifestyle" could quickly eliminate the problem entirely, particularly now that we stand on the doorstep of the Messianic Redemption, when G-d will remove the "spirit of impurity" from the earth forever.

Rabbi Sholom Rodal, Chabad of Mt. Olympus, Los Angeles, CA

Rabbi Rodal received our Proclamation (declaring the Torah duty for everyone to help defund the PLO) on March 15th at 9:11am. More than three months went by and we didn't hear back, so we sent him an e-mail reminder on June 26th. Now another three months have passed, and still there is no answer.

Rabbi Rodal's Chabad House is located in a posh neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills, home to successful members of the movie industry. It is inconceivable that Rabbi Boruch S. Cunin, head Chabad shliach for California (who prides himself on his connections to the Hollywood film business and his ability to rally their support for his annual fundraising telethon) would allow such an assignment to go to someone without his personal approval. And since Cunin is an adamant "refusenik" who opposes the PLO defunding campaign (and the Rebbe's Noahide campaign, as reviewed at www.noahide.com/cunin.htm), it stands to reason that Rabbi Rodal isn't terribly eager to jump forward and endorse this campaign.

Still, the Torah does require his endorsement — and his active involvement, for that matter. Some recent endorsements from California shluchim do give us hope that change may be on the horizon.

Rabbi Zev Karp, Oholei Torah Yeshiva, Brooklyn, NY

A JAHG-USA volunteer showed Rabbi Karp the Proclamation on May 27th; he looked it over and promptly signed. Like a number of the other endorsers, Rabbi Karp doesn't make his money by fundraising and trying to be popular, but rather receives a modest salary as a teacher in one of the major Lubavitch boys' yeshivos. His signature adds yet another voice telling everyone that participation in the PLO defunding campaign is mandatory according to Torah.

• (A "Lubavitcher" writing, supposedly to complain about lashon hora [slanderous speech]):
"You guys are sick. You post the Rebbe's picture like you're chasidim or something and then you post such hate-filled communist conspiracy nonsense. You have no decency.
"...Sign your names, you cowards!" — Mordechai Wollenberg.

Our response: Mr. Wollenberg attended the Hadar HaTorah Yeshiva at the same time as I (Boruch Ellison), and he knows very well I am the editor-in-chief of this newsletter. But that's not really his point.

Wollenberg was such a consistently disruptive opponent of any efforts to carry out the Rebbe's Noahide campaign, the PLO defunding campaign (itself an offshoot of the Rebbe's call to political action to save Israel and Jewish lives), etc., that it quickly became clear he is himself neither a true Lubavitcher nor even an observant Jew, but rather one of the Communists or Marxists who have feigned religious observance to infiltrate the Jewish community. The Torah warns (in various rabbinical commentaries) that in our generation (when the Messiah comes) we would become heavily infiltrated by spies who would betray the Jewish people to their enemies. Wollenberg collaborated closely with "Rabbi" Yosef Wircberg at Hadar HaTorah, dialectically trapping the unwitting students in psychological schemes designed to confuse and demoralize them. It is no wonder Wollenberg is so sensitive to anti-Communism.

Wollenberg has since become a "rabbi" himself and a "Chabad shliach" in England (or rather Wales, to be precise). But he still carries out his sabotage, usually by running interference for other spies; Wollenberg plays the loud, distracting decoy to take attention away from other agents who come under unwelcome scrutiny.

In this case, he apparently reacted to our raising a question on Rabbi Yakov Schwei, one of the members of the Crown Heights Beis Din (Jewish court for the Lubavitch area of Brooklyn). We pointed out that Rabbi Schwei acted very strangely; in contrast to other rabbis, who either endorse our PLO-defunding campaign or stay away from political issues altogether, Rabbi Schwei curiously refused to sign our Proclamation, yet turned around and enthusiastically endorsed the self-destructive fight against evacuation of Israeli settlements in Gush Katif. As we remarked, this stands out as a startling case of direct and willful demoralization of Jews, drawing them into a no-win fight (as we correctly predicted) while discouraging them from participating in true victory through cutting off PLO funding.

Experts in the field of counterintelligence have long known that one of the ways to detect an enemy spy is by seeing if other known spies support him or run to his defense. The fact that Wollenberg jumped in to deflect attention from Rabbi Schwei provides a second, powerful basis for suspicion that Schwei himself may be an enemy agent. Schwei is, after all, a relatively new addition to the rabbinical court (he was not a member in the days when the Lubavitcher Rebbe was around), and is well known for constantly starting disputes with Rabbi Osdoba, an original member of the court.

The case against Rabbi Schwei is become stronger.…
