Last week, having described a bit of the eco-terrorist network, we asked, "After founding Earth First! but before founding the ELF, Mike Roselle was active in which other well-known, officially "non-terrorist" (but radical) environmentalist group?" First place for the right answer goes again to GE of southern California, and a close second to SG of Brooklyn, NY, both for mentioning Roselle's involvement with Greenpeace.

Although self-described as "non-violent," Greenpeace would be better described as RedViolence. Now notorious for torturing seals and kangaroos to death for publicity stunts — to make bogus films supposedly portraying cruel hunting practices — the organization has reacted to its loss of public credibility by working more closely with violent terrorists. Greenpeace agents have been caught assisting the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in its destruction of ships and other property, and the group has developed ties with the Earth First! terrorists — notably Earth First! co-founder Mike Roselle, who spent much of the 1980s as a leading Greenpeace organizer. Greenpeace has also actively supported Earth First! political campaigns and the legal defense of its members arrested for terrorism.

The Greenpeace connection brings Earth First! and the other eco-terrorists in direct linkage to Communism and even Soviet Russia itself. Greenpeace's prominent leaders have included (1) Fernando Pereira, member of the Dutch Communist Party, member of the Baader-Meinhof gang (the primary Marxist-Leninist terror group in Germany), and identified by Dutch authorities as an undercover agent of the Soviet Union; (2) William Arkin, an active agent of the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), a Marxist front group in the US controlled by the Soviet KGB (secret police); and (3) David McTaggart, chairman of Greenpeace International, who was favorably interviewed in World Marxist Review, the journal of the Communist International that laid out the strategy for world revolution.

As an organization, Greenpeace has been allied with the Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, a Communist front group, and has been sponsored by the Soviet government itself with tens of millions of dollars, an office in Moscow, and even official diplomatic immunity normally granted only to (some) governments.

Not surprisingly, Greenpeace has therefore been deeply involved in the Soviet-sponsored nuclear disarmament campaign, Soviet projects to destabilize economies and political systems in various parts of the world, advocacy of brazen, Marxist-style socialism, and infiltration into public schools of subversive curricula designed to manipulate children into hating businessmen, political leaders, and even their own parents.

This week's example: Rabbi Shea Hecht, National Committee for Furtherance of Jewish Education, Brooklyn, NY

[Special Note: This week, Hashgocho Protis (Divine Providence) intervened to give Rabbi Boruch S. Cunin, head Chabad shliach for the states of California and Nevada, one final chance (a fourth one, to be sure!) to change his mind and endorse our proclamation (calling on all Jews to participate in the campaign to defund the PLO). While we wait one more week before giving our readers background on Rabbi Cunin's lack of endorsement (or praise for his signing on, G-d willing), we'll continue with another reticent rabbi from New York.]

Rabbi Hecht was presented a copy of our proclamation in person on March 11. But when our volunteer returned to get his signature, Hecht began turning evasive. He repeatedly delayed, postponed, and stalled using every technique in the book: claiming he hadn't read it yet, or that he forgot about it, or that he's busy right now, or using his secretary to screen out our representative. Over two weeks later, on March 27, our JAHG-USA volunteer was finally able to confront Hecht again, whereupon Hecht was reduced to slippery, beating-around-the-bush conversation, until even he could not deny he was refusing to sign. He obviously is very determined not to endorse the campaign to save lives, and equally desperate to make sure there is no publicity about his refusal. We have found that "refusenik" rabbis typically resort to evasiveness; unable to disagree with the proclamation, they nevertheless don't want to take any stand that might jeopardize… what?

As the administrative head of such institutions as Hadar Hatorah Yeshiva in Brooklyn, Hecht could easily mobilize much support to defund PLO terrorism. But by ducking out, he actually helps block much potential support. If Hecht doesn't turn around sometime soon, he will be wearing his badge of shame the rest of his life once this war is over and Moshiach (the Messiah) has arrived. And that unshakeable stigma will be well deserved.

As a reminder of our obligations to save lives, here's the next halacha from the proclamation:

Proclamation Rule No. 7
One who fails to carry out his responsibility [to save lives] is considered by Torah as if he actually participated in the murder of his fellow Jews. [Additional comment: Literally, such a person is referred to as having the blood of his fellow Jews on his own hands. This was how the Lubavitcher Rebbe described the heads of yeshivahs in Israel for refusing to speak out in similar appeasement, only now that terrible status of being equivalent to a Jew-murderer belongs to many Lubavitch rabbis!]

This week's example: Rabbi Sholom D. Geisinsky, Beis Rivka Seminary, Brooklyn, NY

On May 26, Rabbi Geisinsky was likewise presented a copy of the proclamation, and upon reading it, signed it immediately. No delays, no procrastination, no "I'm too busy right now," etc., etc. He recognized his minimum responsibility under the rules of Torah, and he endorsed. As a teacher at the main girls' school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Rabbi Geisinsky sets a proper example that ought to be followed by Rabbi Hecht, who himself administers yeshiva and educational programs.

Our response: This person's letter makes clear she is a Christian who resents the idea than anyone besides Jesus could possibly be considered the Messiah.

JAHG-USA does not officially endorse anyone as being the definite Moshiach, including the Lubavitcher Rebbe (Rabbi Schneerson), although we certainly agree he is a leading candidate. In any case, three things we know for sure: (1) This is the generation of the War of Gog & Magog and the coming of Moshiach, which must all come to completion very soon — most likely before this decade is finished; (2) the true Moshiach must be a righteous Jewish leader who brings Jews and gentiles back to the Torah Laws (as appropriate for each group), and thus Jesus and the Shabbatai Tzvi (of the seventeenth century) are disqualified; and (3) no one alive today is even remotely able to qualify to be Moshiach (sorry, folks, we think we must all admit we've got serious flaws that we must fix). Therefore Moshiach must come from the dead, not the living.

Traditional Jewish sources, dating back in the oral tradition to Mt. Sinai, do allow for this possibility, as the Rebbe himself mentioned. The Talmud, in Tractate Sanhedrin (page 98b) clearly states that if Moshiach comes from the dead, he would be like Daniel (the prophet, dead for about eight centuries at the time that passage was written). Rabbinical commentator Rashi explains this means literally Daniel himself, although the Abarbanel, another commentator, says this can include anyone else who is resurrected from his grave to become Moshiach. Maimonides mentions (in his Laws of Kings, 11:4) says that one who is killed cannot be the Messiah, leaving the possibility open for one who died of natural causes.

One can see where the Christian church took its notion of a resurrected Messiah — only, in their plagiarized and rewritten version, the "messiah" takes a little detour back to heaven for a few thousand years!

In any case, it doesn't much matter whether Moshiach will be Daniel or the Lubavitcher Rebbe. What is crucial to realize is that the Redemption, and victory over the Communist world revolution, is coming imminently. Now is the time to press forward to the triumph of Torah everywhere.
