"Test Your WWIII-IQ" Contest
"Which nation is the main source of weapons purchased by the Communist Chinese government for its military?" The correct answer, Soviet Russia, was submitted by this week's winner, GE of southern California and as part of the answer of our second-place winner, RF of the Philippines. Red China, which is the world's biggest importer of weapons and for a number of years has been aggressively expanding its military to the point of soon being second in military spending only to the U.S. (see the last issue of this newsletter), is supplied fighter jets, naval destroyers, advanced Kilo-class submarines with long-range missile systems, and other high-end military weapons primarily by the Soviet government. In fact, the Soviets have taken special measures (such as spreading production over multiple facilities) to speed up delivery of the weapons, helping the Communist Chinese government build its military as quickly as possible.
