"Test Your WWIII-IQ" Contest

One of the guesses to last week's contest question hit the bullseye. "Most of the cocaine trade in Colombia is controlled by the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). The FARC was first established in the 1960s as the armed terrorist wing of which political movement?" The FARC was founded in 1964 as the official armed wing of the Colombian Communist Party, as discovered by TE of southern California through a small bit of Internet research. The FARC today has at least 17,000 terrorist "soldiers," most of whom joined—or were drafted—since 1990. Funded by the cocaine trade, which it largely controls in that country, the group conducts an unbounded campaign of mayhem and terror throughout all of Colombia. They operate with impunity through most of the Colombian countryside, kidnapping, torturing, and murdering innocent men, women, and children at random; and now they are forming militias in the cities themselves, preparing for urban guerrilla warfare. As you might expect, they are supported by Cuba and the rest of the Communist bloc, as well as by much of the international terror network.

And now for this week's question:

The FARC's sister terror group in Colombia, the ELN, was also founded in 1964. Which US corporation provided most of the financing that built the ELN in recent years?

Have Some Chabad Shluchim Betrayed Their Rebbe?

X   We have removed the text, because this rabbi has since endorsed the proclamation.

This week's role model

Rabbi Zevulun Lieberman, of Congregation Beth Torah and a member of the Vaad Harabbonim of Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY, did sign an earlier version of the endorsement on June 22, 2001. Rabbi Lieberman, orthodox though not Lubavitch, showed the kind of leadership too often lacking these days by endorsing our campaign (and our published materials) to "end all PLO funding." Thank you for doing this important mitzvah.

Letters to the Editor

[In response to the anti-PLO information on our site] "I believe that the U.S. should immediately cease all aid to the PLO, until such a time that they renounce all forms of terrorism and violence against Yisrael. These people who are being called 'palestinians' are not true palestinians. These people are the descendants of the Arabs who moved to Palestine after the Chalif Umar Ibn Al-Khatab conquered the Byzantines. So naturally they have no right to live there other than that of being born in the land. However, if I remember correctly, Jordan was supposed to have been the new palestinian state. As it is now, they have a right to live somewhere as long as they make their neighbors safe and denounce terrorism."—CM

"Just wanted to let you know that you've got a great newsletter. Also, did you hear that the US Department of State is OPENLY supporting the 'recently made legal' Iraqi Communist Party? This is supposedly to 'offset' Islamic fanaticism."—SW, California
